The working principle of centrifugal pump

After the centrifugal pump starts, the pump shaft will drive the impeller together for high-speed rotational movement, forcing the pre-filled liquid between the blades to rotate, under the action of inertia centrifugal force, the liquid from the center of the impeller to the periphery for radial movement.
Liquid medium in the process of flowing through the impeller movement will gain energy, resulting in higher static pressure energy, while increasing the flow rate. When the liquid leaves the impeller and enters the pump casing, it decelerates due to the gradual expansion of the flow channel in the casing, and part of the kinetic energy is converted into static pressure energy, and finally flows tangentially into the discharge pipe.
When the liquid is thrown from the center of the impeller to the periphery at the same time, a low-pressure area will be formed in the center of the impeller, and the liquid is sucked into the center of the impeller under the action of the total potential energy difference between the reservoir surface and the center of the impeller. Relying on the continuous operation of the impeller, the liquid will be continuously sucked and discharged. The mechanical energy obtained by the liquid in the centrifugal pump is finally expressed as the increase of static pressure energy.

The basic components of a centrifugal pump are a high-speed rotating impeller and a fixed worm-shaped pump casing. Usually centrifugal pumps have a number of (usually 4-12) backward curved vane impeller fastened to the pump shaft, and with the pump shaft driven by the motor for high-speed rotation.

There are many types of centrifugal pumps, and the common classification methods are as follows:
